Michael here. It's very early Tuesday morning, and since we aren't yet functioning on local time,we're online.

The trip was a bit eventful, because Delta cancelled our flight from Boston to JFK airport. Storms had shut JFK down. The next JFK flight would be too late, so we flew to Laguardia, picked up our checked luggage (which did get transferred to the Laguardia flight) and took a taxi to JFK. There we learned that the Qantas flight had been delayed, eventually leaving about two hours late. The Qantas flight went well, although it was very long. Once in the hotel, we napped in our room, explored the neighborhood a bit, and went to bed early.

We've discovered that our fancy Brookstone voltage convertor does not have the correct plug for Australia, the one so labelled being not even close. Most of our devices have power bricks that can use 240 volts, and that's how we're powering the computer. But Australian voltage is 230v plus 10%, minus 6%, and maybe our room is running a bit high, because we may have fried the power supply for our mobile phone. Loud crackling noise after 30 minutes of charging, and a burnt smell from the charger. The phone itself seems fine, but we may not be able to charge it again. Will explore possibilities tomorrow.

Tomorrow (actually later today as I write), Lois' friend Amanda will stop by the hotel and we'll be sightseeing.

oh fried technology - gack. At least you sound like you know what you're talking about, Michael. If my technology got fried, it would have to stay that way.
